Amman, Oct. 15 (Petra) - Jordan is gearing up to host mixed martial arts (MMA) week from October 27 to 30, bringing together Jordanian and international athletes and sports stars for a "major" sporting and tourist event.
On activities, the program combines professional bouts, public activities and visits to tourism sites, culminating in the "DF: UNCAGED" fight night.
The program features 13 bouts, as Jordanian champions are competing, alongside fighters from several countries.
It offers Jordanian athletes an opportunity to compete before their home audience and showcase their abilities at an event attracting regional and international media interest.
The guest program also features figures from sport, the arts and digital content creation.
Activities begin on Tuesday, October 27, with a press conference at the Odeon Theatre, adjacent to the Roman Theatre, to present details of the event and scheduled bouts. Organisers, participating athletes and guests will attend, alongside representatives of the media.
The Dead Sea Corniche will host open training sessions on Wednesday, Oct. 28, allowing the public to watch the fighters’ preparations and interact with them. The activity links sport with one of Jordan’s leading tourism destinations and seeks to attract visitors to the site.
The Amman Citadel will host the official weigh-ins on Thursday, Oct. 29, ahead of fight night on Friday, Oct. 30, at the Roman Theatre. The evening will also include artistic performances, heritage displays and entertainment.
Guests will visit tourism and archaeological sites across the Kingdom to explore Jordan’s cultural and natural attractions. These visits will be featured in media coverage and content shared by guests with their followers worldwide.
According to organisers, the media plan seeks regional and international coverage of both the sporting and tourism aspects of the event. Targeted outlets and platforms include MBC channels, Shahid, Brazil’s Globo, US outlets USA Today and MMA Weekly, and combat sports platform FloGrappling, alongside Jordanian television channels and other local media.
They said the week seeks to support sports tourism and diversify the experiences available to visitors through activities in Amman, the Dead Sea and other destinations, linking competition with efforts to introduce audiences to tourism and archaeological sites across the Kingdom and encourage visits.
The event provides an opportunity to showcase Jordan’s tourist attractions to international audiences through sport, displaying the Kingdom’s history, cultural and natural diversity, and the hospitality of its people.
The participation of international athletes and guests, together with accompanying digital content and media coverage, offers opportunities to share stories about Jordan’s sites, culture and people with new audiences, supporting its position as a destination for tourism and events.
Organisational, on-site and media arrangements are being prepared in cooperation with the relevant authorities to receive participants and spectators, while respecting the character of archaeological sites and requirements for their preservation.
Tickets for the week’s activities and the October 30 fight night at the Roman Theatre are now on sale through Tzkrti, across the available booking categories.
The event will be held under the supervision of the Jordan Mixed Martial Arts Federation, with support and cooperation from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Jordan Tourism Board, the Greater Amman Municipality, the Ministry of Government Communication, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Youth and the Public Security Directorate.
